B&B I Cedri Sicilia - Trecastagni (Catania) Between Etna and the sea
In a romantic atmosphere, quests will find here the comfort of a Hotel and the
feeling of a family, a
home away from home. B&B
" I cedri " is a classical and pleasant villa located in a panoramic position
which offers the sea and the Etna sight, and whose name is due to the secular
trees that lop inside the mediterranean vegetation of the luxuriant garden that
encircles the entire construction.
It’s been built around the late Eighteenth and the early Nineteenth century, and
it has been recently restructured by the owners, whose concern was to preserve
its history. The building was originally a master’s dwelling and a company
centre of an ancient vineyard; many traces of it are still visible today.
It also includes a large " palmento, "
a room used to press the grapes and to make vinification – that is an evolution
of the " torcularium "of the Pompeian villas during the Roman Age: its singular
characteristic is to use as far as possible the gravity force, in every single
passage of the wine-making, even moving through an ingenious path of lava-stone
channels.
Actually, the owners live in the almost undamaged "palmento ", and the section
that includes the B&B leads into it, by an internal door, by which it’s shown a
suggestive view.
